Prince De GALLES Hotel
Prince De GALLES Hotel
This pair of lamps is from a collection of 26 from the Prince de Galles hotel in Paris, France.
The lever on the side lifts up to adjust the angle of the lamp. At the base of the lamp is a bronze plaque monogrammed with the hotel's name, which covers a small ashtray. The plaque also served as a paperweight or one could place it on top of a letter as a notification for the hotel to mail.
All lamps are re-wired for U.S. outlets. Lamps have been lightly polished but kept most of the natural patina. Shades are custom made silk.
The last picture is showing the plate atop a letter written in 1831 by Jerome Bonaparte, brother of Napoleon Bonaparte.
